MOBURF-00000053-001Reader Question:

I have spilled Indian Dal Curry on the carpet. I quickly cleaned this with wet cloth and also vaccum cleaned that area. But after a few hours now I have noticed dry light stains on the carpet. Can you please advise on how to get rid of it?

Answer:

Since curry is such a tough stain to deal with we consulted with the Carpet and Rug Institute. They put me in touch with member company Shaw Industries.

This is their advice:

“Have the customer rinse the spot thoroughly using a shop vac or an extractor.

CTI’s Proschoice (www.proschoice.com) Stain Magic will work on a set stain  Usually, we suggest that this be applied by a professional cleaning company.  You may need to accelerate it with a steam iron.  You can click on Distributors on the Pro’s Choice website and get a list by state.  The distributor will be able to recommend a cleaning firm that is trained to use their products. ”

We hope this suggestion helps solve your problem. For future reference, you can find stain solutions on the Carpet and Rug Institute’s spot solver. Feel free to share your favorite curry recipe with us for those of us that love curry!

Sincerely,
