Community Donation

Posted On January 29th, 2010

bc_logoAt Pierce Flooring, we are pleased to be able to share with you  one of our latest community efforts. Several upgrades have been made to the Mary Alice Fortin Health Community Center thanks to donations to the Billings Clinic Foundation, one of which is new carpet donated by Pierce Flooring.  Additional improvements to the property include: paint, lighting and wall coverings in some of the rooms. The center hasn’t seen upgrades since the 1980’s! We are so happy that we were able to be a part of this community improvement project. There was a nice mention of us in the Billings Clinic newsletter.

About the Billings clinic:

Based in Billings, Montana, Billings Clinic is a not-for-profit health care organization, governed by the community, and is the community’s largest employer. We have over 280 physicians and non-physician providers who work together to provide coordinated and complete care. Our mission is to provide outstanding health care, education and research in our region and the nation.

Decorating with Wall Tile

Posted On January 12th, 2010

DSC_0067Have you lived in your home for a while and want just a little something new? Decorating with wall tile can add a splash of color to an existing area without a lot of disruption to a room or your daily life. (*in comparison to most flooring projects!) Maybe you’ve got grease spatter stains behind your stove and could use a backsplash. Maybe you’ve got a bathroom that’s a little boring and it just needs some decorative attention. Below are some ideas on decorating with wall tile that may just inspire you!

Kitchen:

  • Add a backsplash – either something decorative and functional behind the stove or sink area or all of the walls in the kitchen.
  • Tile the front of a bar area if there are footprints on the sheetrock.
  • Tile a table top for added protection and color.

Bathrooms:

  • Add a wainscoting of tile to the bathroom walls. Get creative, use multiple sizes and / or colors!
  • Add or replace a sink backsplash with a decorative tile listello.
  • Frame a mirror with decorative tile.
  • Add tile behind your bathtub. Don’t be shy – go all the way up to the ceiling. Create an area that says, “Calgon, take me away!”

Other rooms:

  • Add tile to a fireplace surround.
  • Tile the risers of your stairs with a decorative tile.

For other ideas specific to your home or project, call or visit us today to get some ideas of what will work in your home and then we can give you a free estimate to help you decide! If these projects sound like more than you want to tackle, but you still want to add a splash of color, we’ve got area rugs for that. You can even buy online!

Wood Floor Care – Reader Question

Posted On January 8th, 2010

product_photo_mainReader Question:

I’m still trying to find a mop or some sort of brush that would do a good job on circle sawn flooring. I have pretty deep grooves in my flooring’s pattern, and have a hard time getting it cleaned up. I originally bought a Swiffer, and it takes about 6 sheets just to get up the surface dirt! Does Bona offer a more textured mop?

Julia from

Answer:

Julia,

Yes! Bona offers a textured mop. The most important thing to do first, is to vacuum the floor to remove as much dirt as you can. This will help make the Swiffer sheets  last a little longer or the Bona mop able to clean more without having to be washed. You should be able to see a difference when using  the Microfiber Dusting Pad because of the texture of the pad. Another thing that will help is to clean your floors more often so that each time there is not as much to try to remove. (not suggesting that you don’t clean often enough!) Circle sawn floors are stunning and we think worth the little bit of extra attention they require to keep them looking great.

Give these ideas a shot and let us know if this information helped you. Thanks for taking the time to send in your question.

Sincerely,

Your friends at Pierce Flooring
